Take a tour of the 12th-century ruins of Ajloun Fort, a historic Muslim castle that was once the core of the town of Aljoun. The fort and castle were built in 1185 by a local emir, under the command of Saladin, the first sultan of Syria and Egypt.

You can take a taxi or brave the uphill trek from the city to the fortress, where you’ll find a small museum that displays a variety of artifacts and relics. Explore the castle’s nooks and crannies, and enjoy the expansive views from the towering hill that overlooks the city.
